Kathryn made friends with actor Armand Assante and other cast members during the filming of TNT's movie, "The Hunley." Kathryn played Mrs. Driscoll, a widow who caught the eye of General Beauregard played by Donald Sutherland.She also served as a dialect coach for some of the actors who had substantial dialogue.

The Confederate submarine,The Hunley, went down shortly after making history as the world's first submarine to sink an enemy vessel in combat. Senator Glenn McConnell, who chairs The Hunley Commission, has been very involved in the excavation project and was also one of Kathryn's cast mates when the movie was shot in Charleston, South Carolina.
Kathy and Donna McKechnie became good friends during the trip. She sang many tunes from "A Chorus Line".
Kathy is seen hugging Ed Asner while on her trip to Alaska. This trip was called Theatre at Sea and sponsored by the New York Theatre Guild. Eight shows were performed during the theatre cruise.
